Roberts Arts and Crafts-November

Hello! Nancy here from ScrappingoutofControl. It has been so cold lately that I decided to stay home and start putting up my Christmas decorations..Yes I know it's not even Thanksgiving but I LOVE Christmas!!! So for my project, I decided to make so home decor...First you will need your favorite papers, an empty paper towel roll and an empty ribbon roll. Here I used an old Christmas collection from DCWV.

Cut five strips of 6 by 12 paper. I used my Martha Stewart-around the edge page punch for each strip. I then scored the strips at a half an inch using my Martha Stewart scoring board. After you have cut and scored your strips, glue two strips together. You should have a total of five 6 by 24 strips.Glue the paper towel roll to the ribbon roll..The ribbon roll is the base of your tree. (sorry no photo)

Use a strong adhesive to glue the strips starting from the bottom up. Continue to glue the strips on the paper towel roll. Make sure you over lap the layers. For the final layer, cut a strip of paper 3.5 by 6 inches. glue the ends together and make triangle shaped rosette. Add adhesive to the top of the paper towel roll and add the last layer.

And now the fun part..decorate your tree! I used a snowflake as the tree topper and used Diamond Dust as my snow.

Here is a closer look at my tree.

I hope you've enjoyed today's Roberts Crafts project. Don't forget to visit them here..
Big crafty hugs, Nancy

My Creative Time Sneak Peak Day #3

Oh my gosh!!! I think this has to be one of my favorite stamps that Emma at MCT has released!  I love these stamps because they can be used in so many different projects. This was my first time making a pillow box and I think it came out pretty awesome! Well I think MCT stamps made it awesome! LOL. Emma's bother,
Mark Villar, was the artist behind the My Creative Time Keepin' it Classy set.
Creativity must run in the family! I used the Easter 2010 cartridge to cut the pillow box.
I cut the box at 7 inches. The box was easy to put together. These would make great gift boxes for the holidays. Enjoy!

BIG NEWS!!

I have been hiding this secret for the past week and now I can finally open my mouth!! I made Emma's design team! I'm still in shock! I cannot believe I'm going to be part of the My Creative Time design team! This is such an honor and a great opportunity for me to incorporate my work into Emma's awesome stamps. I was thrilled to have been picked from the list of all the talented people who put in for the team. I never thought I would be so lucky to be picked by Miss Emma herself. This is so very exciting!!!YAY me! (ok breathe in and out..)

Ok now to introduce myself...

My name is Nancy Morin. I'm 32 years old, married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful kids. Two girls ages 13 and 5 and one boy who is almost two. I began scrapbooking about three years ago. Shortly after, my interest in scrapbooking lead me to the YouTube community where I discovered how fun and exciting this industry had become. This route lead me to Emma's channel (aguilarsplace) on YouTube and since then, I've been hooked. My intentions are to preserve my children's memories so one day they too, can share these memories with their families. I have been blessed with a supportive husband who has given me my scrappy haven and has custom built my scrappy table. I'm a very lucky girl!

I don't have a specific style as I love it all. I incorporate my machines like the Cricut, Imagine, and my gypsy.  I'm inspired by mix media arts and crafts, but prefer a simple and clean style. I am very excited to be part of  the My Creative Time  Design Team and cannot wait to get started!
For my project, I created this simple yet elegant layout of my family during our trip to the San Fransisco Zoo. Lots of us use Emma's stamps on our cards but because they are so versatile, you can really use them on anything! I used several of her sets on this layout. Please read below for the full recipe.

I used Emma's Cherish the Moment stamp set for my hidden journaling. (I don't like my handwriting :))

For the background, I used Emma's Build a Banner Kit using the burlap stamp.

I used the XL label die and the coordinating label XL label boarders stamps for my title. The letters are from the Any Day Bingo and Crossword set.

I used Emma's Cherish the Moment set to stamp "Good Times". I love this set because you can really use it on any crafty project!
